Abstract
This paper summarizes the application of model predictive control for the stabilization of a precalciner of a clinker production unit of a cement plant. The control objective and modelling approach is outlined. The results shown indicate that the performance is significantly improved by the model predictive control approach and that more beneficial operating points are obtained protecting equipment and operating more energy efficiently.
