Abstract

A simulator was developed to reproduce the operation of a gold leaching circuit. The ore is described by its mineral composition and precious metal content. The simulator allows adjustment of the ore size distribution, species distribution through the size intervals and distribution of gold grains exposed surface. A parallel bypass and Cholette-Cloutier mixer model is used to represent the material transportation through a leaching tank. The simulator can be used for circuit optimization but its application is illustrated as a tool for learning the basic concepts of process analysis methods.
