Abstract
Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) affect the quality of life of older age people. One of the most widely used LUTS diagnostic method is uroflowmetry. This diagnostic test offers simplicity and wide array of diagnostic information. Many variations of equipment allow performing the uroflowmetric measurements. However, the studies prove the psychological stress and awkwardness, experienced by the patients, affect the results of the test. Some methods are aimed at clinical use only, but there is a prominent trend of developing and producing devices that can be used by a patient at the comfort of his/her home. Different uroflowmetry techniques are discussed in this paper, including gravimetric, volumetric, image processing, acoustic, etc. Possibilities to apply these methods for men and women, as well as children are overviewed.
