Abstract
In this paper, the load-frequency control problem in the case of trip in a generation unit is addressed. In this case, lack of reserve power may lead to a load shedding strategy to prevent network instability. However, when the power is still more than consumption, response time of frequency recovery algorithms become important. In this paper, a new approach based on the control reconfiguration concept is proposed which can restore the network frequency faster than traditional ones. It will cause less power transfer toward affected area in an interconnected network as well as less under frequency side effects on loads. Simulation results show that using the proposed method, under frequency is restored faster.
