Abstract

Explosions in coal mines are considered a feared danger to miners and a to mine itself. The combination of an accumulated methane and a coal dust causes unexpected explosions. This contribution presents an electronic device, that detects an explosion and initiates impulse for a following system actuator for minimizing the explosion impact. The paper introduces internal description of detection device, risk analysis and fault tree analysis. The fault tree analysis is simulated in A.L.D. RAM Commander. We present an experimental result set of laboratory tests and also testing in a real explosion of methane and coal dust mixture conditions.
