Abstract
Single crystal of phenyl benzoate (PB) was grown using vertical Bridgman growth technique. The thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (TG/DSC) is used to determine the melting point of the material. The crystal structure and its cell parameters were confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The grown crystal possesses a wide optical transparency window in the visible and near IR region (300-1100â¯nm). Photoluminescence studies confirm the green fluorescence emission peak at 523â¯nm. The nonlinear refractive index (n2), nonlinear absorption coefficient (β) and third-order nonlinear susceptibility (Ï3) of PB were determined by Z-scan technique. The optical limiting behavior of the sample leads to the nonlinear refraction. The dielectric measurement was carried out for 50â¯Hz-5â¯MHz frequency range. The piezoelectric charge coefficient (d33) of the grown crystal was measured.
