Abstract
► We apply ultrasonic vibration to nanosecond laser machining. ► Ultrasonic vibration improves surface finish of laser-machined area. ► On the surface, particle agglomeration is suppressed by enhancement of near-field cooling. ► Ultrasonic effect reduces accumulation of recast layer and is more effective in repetitive machining.
