Abstract
A new tunable capacitor system based on a magnetostrictive material and an electret film has been proposed. The traditional dynamic measurement of the magnetoelectric effect was used to investigate the magnetoelectric properties of the system. The results show that the output AC voltage of the system is significantly affected by the DC bias and AC signal magnetic field; the system exhibits a high magnetoelectric response. The detected magnetoelectric response of the system increases with increasing magnitude of the DC bias magnetic field and exhibits hysteresis. The maximum tunability of the magnetoelectric response based on the DC bias magnetic field is found to be more than 10%. These findings not only enhance the use of the dynamic method of magnetoelectric measurement, but also provide a new type of capacitor for potential applications in magnetic detections, magnetoelectric sensors and energy converter.
