Abstract
A piezoelectric actuated liquid pumping system with two degree of freedom (2-DOF) cantilever shaped resonator is designed, modeled, developed and tested. The performance of the pump is evaluated and the flowrate is found to be higher as compared to that of the pump designed with single degree of freedom (1-DOF) cantilever shaped resonator. The effect of other important parameters such as viscosity of the liquid, the distance between the liquid level and the tip of the actuator, tube diameter, on the flowrate of the pump is also evaluated. The results demonstrate that the proposed pump is applicable to different viscosity of liquids ranging from 0.23Â mPas to 170Â mPas and provides higher flowrate as compared with the pump designed with 1-DOF resonator.
