Abstract
Described project presents a hardware solution of simple 3D wireframes projection in real time. Computational algorithms are optimized for parallel processing on FPGA. The actual implementation is targeted for Xilinx Spartan-6 device with graphical output to VGA. The model allows a smooth rotation of the object in two directions and changing the viewing angle. The design is described in VHDL language with a few basic IP cores for the calculation of trigonometric functions. Testing was performed on a development kit NEXYS-3 on which the rendering speed achieved was almost 5000 fps. The use of the presented methods can be applied especially in systems where 3D visualization in real time is a critical issue.
