Abstract
This paper presents a control structure used for an automotive heat pump system in the presence of constraints in the system. The constraints aim at maintaining a safety and performance level. Yet, any proposed strategy must lead to a low-order controller suitable for the automotive industry. The developed strategy includes a PI-based temperature controller, which is further improved by replacing it by a reduced-order H∞ controller. By doing this, the system becomes more reactive to the temperature set point and disturbances influence while the constraints continue to be considered by the whole structure.
