Abstract

Start-up and gearshift processes with dual-clutch transmissions are often controlled using models of the both sub-clutches behavior in terms of steady-state torque transmission. As clutches of this type alter their transmission behavior when driving, these changes must be sensed and the models used in the clutch control system adapted accordingly. This article looks at ways of modeling transmission behavior in dual clutches in a closed-form expression while taking account of the specifics associated with clutch systems of this type. It also presents a process – as well as testing it in experiments – for identifying transmission behavior model parameters online.
