Abstract
Despite the major benefits that a company can achieve by implementing a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) programme, they are not widely used in industry, especially by small and medium enterprises (SME), and this can affect competitiveness. This paper shows the results of a survey of 35 SME's in the Castilla-La Mancha Autonomous Region of Spain. In those companies which do not have CBM, this study assesses the level of knowledge and possible future application of the predictive programme, and where there is CBM it analyses its characteristics. A statistical analysis was performed on those variables with the greatest effect on the decision to establish CBM.
