Abstract
An algorithm for the estimation of the electric resistance for self-sensing magnetic levitation systems is presented. The development of this novel estimation algorithm is based on the position estimator proposed in Glück et al. (2010). Based on the mathematical model of the considered magnetic levitation system, the main ideas of the position estimation algorithm are summarized. A detailed analysis shows that the estimation error of the electric resistance can be deduced from the results of the position estimation algorithm. This observation leads to the design of a new resistance estimation algorithm. The performance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated by means of measurement results on a test bench.
