Abstract

More and more Micro Combined Heat and Power Plants (μCHP) are connected to the low voltage (LV) network, this leads to active LV Smart Grids. To simulate this type of Smart Grids and to define new technical requirements for the μCHP, the static and dynamic parameters of the μCHP have to be evaluated. Within a research project, a test facility for μCHPs with rated electric active power up to 10 kW is designed. The test lab allows the emulation of grid connected and islanded operation of the μCHP, the parameter identification of these devices and to check their confirmation with the grid codes. In a first step the requirements for the test facility must be derived. Following different solutions are investigated, advantages and disadvantages are worked out and the final concept is developed. For the selected concept a detailed simulation model is developed which is used for validation and optimization of the test facility.
