Abstract

This paper proposes a new hybrid structure combining feedforward control and feedback control for active noise cancellation using a double-glazed window, and presents a new adaptive algorithm for updating the parameters of the two controllers when the primary and secondary path dynamics are both unknown. For the purpose, four adaptive filters are employed and their parameters are updated so as to minimize the two introduced virtual errors, unlike the ordinary filtered-x algorithm using the canceling error directly. The stability and convergence of the proposed algorithm is also discussed and its effectiveness is validated in numerical simulation in a double-glazed window with piezoelectric sensors and actuators.
