Abstract
- Seismic retrofit of a masonry church after the notorious October-31-2002 earthquake of San Giuliano di Puglia (Italy).
- Prestressed masonry: strengthening and stiffening a masonry building without adding structures or altering surfaces.
- Rigid diaphragm: the roofs of nave and aisles transfer the horizontal forces to the façade and chancel arch.
- Internal confinement: embedding rebars into the masonry columns, so as to obtain equivalent stirrups.
- The 2007 and 2011 severe earthquakes tested the structural work.
