Abstract
⺠Dilation is shown to cause dynamic strengthening of phenomenological concrete models. ⺠Simulation supports proposed mechanism for dynamic strength increase in real concrete. ⺠Suggestions are made for a new paradigm of rate sensitive geomaterial models.
