Abstract
⺠The JHB ceramic model is modified to account for the third stress invariant. ⺠Computed results are reported of ballistic impacts of silicon-carbide targets. ⺠Deep targets are relatively insensitive to the influence of the third invariant. ⺠Thin targets and compressive plate impacts are relatively sensitive. ⺠Plate impacts suggest the dependence of silicon carbide on the third invariant is strong.
