Abstract
⺠The response of a rigid buried inclusion to a nearby explosion in soil has been studied. ⺠Stresses distribution around shaped rigid inclusions were obtained at several short standoffs. ⺠For distant standoffs the maximum stress is developed at the point of shortest distance from the charge. ⺠For short standoffs the maximum stress location is at some offset from the above mentioned point. ⺠The maximum stress on a cylindrical inclusion is smaller than from that on a rectangular inclusion.
