Abstract
⺠We introduce a new machining technology using a totally new material removal concept. ⺠With this concept, material is softened by laser heating and removed by a waterjet. ⺠The technology can achieve near damage-free machining and micromachining. ⺠We also present a new hybrid laser-waterjet cutting head design to implement this new concept.
