Abstract
The figure presents the predictions of critical current degradation dependence on the torsional strain εtâ
(â¯=â¯Tθ) of Bi-2223 HTS tapes. The model prediction is a quite good agreement with the experiment data. In addition, the results indicate both compressive and tensile longitudinal strains from torsional deformation contribute to the irreversible degeneration of critical current, but the tensile longitudinal strain from torsional deformation plays a dominant role for superconducting filaments damage evolution compared to the compressive one, in which the irreversible degradation is always induced to remarkably reduce the critical current.92
