Abstract
⺠An intrinsic-form derivation of the incremental equations for axially symmetric inhomogeneous states. ⺠A numerical analysis of the corresponding boundary-eigenvalue problem obtained with the help of the normal mode approach. ⺠A boundary-layer analysis in the limit of large mode numbers. ⺠This work complements the asymptotic strategy developed in Ref. [11] to the case of a stressed boundary.
