Abstract
Problems of estimation of pulse magnetic field strength distribution across the affected area is an important component in the design and use of inductor systems for the electro-magnetic technologies including forming, joining and welding. Using a sensor placed between the coil and the blank, it is possible to measure strength of magnetic field in one or few locations, but that way it is difficult to obtain a detailed distribution. In this work the method of obtaining a distribution of magnetic field using pressure sensitive film (PSF) is suggested and experimentally tested. The method is verified by comparing the PSF data with the results from an induction sensor and also with the results of numerical simulation performed using finite-element code LS-DYNA®. The developed method is used to obtain the detailed distribution of magnetic field of the rectangular planar coil.
