Abstract

This paper presents a design by a micro-computer of control applications in petrochemicals and chemical fields. It proposes a hierarchical configuration of control organized on two levels of automation which treats aspects related to the primary processing of data, processes identification, control and optimization of the systems operating regime for representative plants in the chemical and petrochemical industry. The study case was realized on a reactor for obtaining ethylene which provides a guarantee for the successful implementation of the control solutions proposed for such plants. There are analyzed the theoretical and practical resources offered by modern Automatic Control in order to achieve the effective solutions for processes control and. One proposes an automation solution for the pyrolysis reactor, identifies the control model and designs the control algorithms. One calculates the control model, one sets the quality variable, which has an important role in defining the optimization problem and one solves the optimization problem by using adequate methods. The PO solution represents the efficient operating decision of the pyrolysis reactor. The results obtained in the paper may be also extended to controlling similar plants in the metallurgical and siderurgical industry, car construction industry and transport.
