Abstract
A bottom-up model is presented to investigate carbon nanotube ropes with hierarchical helical structures. The dependence of the mechanical properties of the rope on such microstructural parameters as the initial helical angles, fiber numbers, and handednesses at different structural levels are examined. The obtained results help design micro- and nano-structures of advanced chiral materials.
