Abstract

We consider stabilization over communication channels with delays and packet loss. Using a variation of dynamic quantization an encoder/decoder scheme is presented which is able to achieve stabilization if a closed loop system exists which is ISS with respect to measurement errors. Conditions for stabilization require bounds on the long-term average throughput of the communication channel. In communication channels which can be modelled as Markov processes this can be guaranteed almost surely provided an ergodicity assumption is met.
