Abstract
In this paper we analyze a class of discontinuous systems described by an ordinary differential equation with a discontinuous term, which is approximated by a continuous function. A numerical comparison between the analytical solutions of both systems shows a good accuracy of the approximation, and by applying some formal, recent results to the approximation systems, concluding the chaotic the response of the discontinuous system.
