Abstract
The dynamics models with time delays account for the so-called propagation phenomena connected with partial differential equations of hyperbolic type. The application of the d'Alembert method associates to the partial differential equations some functional differential equations which may be used to solve basic theory, inherent stability and control problems. This paper follows the same line mainly for systems of conservation laws where the “transfer” is from the partial differential equations to the functional ones: a control Liapunov functional is suggested by the energy integral and then “converted” to the language of the functional differential equations.
