In this paper, we discuss the current situation and future direction of micro-nano robotics and automation system. For example, human-beings, itself, consist of tens-trillion of cells and have a really complicated system. In general, the large-scale system (LSS) should be defined by not the scale of size, but the scale of complexity of the system. Hence, the analysis from micro-nano scale sizes is important and challenging issue for LSS to reveal such a complex system. The robotics and automation system in micro-nano scale have received much more attentions as advanced research field and promising technology. The scale effect is the famous phenomena in micro-nano scale, which comes from the interaction at quite small sizes. It is needed to understand and control the unique phenomena in micro-nano scale through robotics and automation technologies. A lot of applications have been developed and investigated by micro-nano robotics and automation system, such as biological science, medical science, life science, mechatronics, material science, environmental/energy problem, and so on. These techniques are expected for the future green and life innovations.
