Abstract
Knowledge is generated and requires access from multidimensional and heterogeneous spaces. Recent innovation in information technologies provide advanced tools that improve the efficiency of knowledge-based decision support systems. This paper presents the design parameters for an optimal blend of technologies required to enhance the knowledge acquisition and reuse in large scale decision making environments. The authors detail a case study in the field of clinical decision support systems based on emerging mobile and agent technologies. They consider the challenges generated by upraising social technologies and interactive knowledge building within vast online communities.
