E-maintenance and i-maintenance are raising the strategic role of maintenance. Therefore, the link between new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and maintenance business logics should be understood. In this paper, a framework which is able to describe, analyse and manage the organizational business models of maintenance, is proposed, in order to help draw a road-map to the implementation of advanced ICTs in maintenance organization. The paper introduces the framework construction and describes how a qualitative measurement system has been set-up for the positioning of companies' maintenance practices. Moreover a validation of the framework through multiple case-study experimentation is presented: four different types of Maintenance Business Models have been identified. Eventually, by associating the individual evaluation of advanced ICTs to the framework, a basis for road-mapping their implementation is identified.
