Abstract
The steady-state control problem for a simplified isolated traffic intersection is considered. The optimal steady-state control problem with green duration constraints is formulated using a discrete-event max-plus model. In the case when the criterion is a strictly increasing, linear function of the queue lengths, the constrained steady-state control problem can be solved analytically. The structure of constrained optimal steady-state traffic control with minimum and maximum green durations is revealed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the constrained steady-state control are derived.
