Abstract
Autonomic systems are inspired on autonomic nervous system of human body and contain several features, mainly the capability of self-configuration, self-healing, self-protection, self-adapting, self-knowledge and self-optimization. Because of the terms used, a system that have these features is simply called self-X system. To create applications and systems with these features is a hard task, due to the inherent system complexity. This work shows some ideas of the component-base approach to the development of self-X automation system. Time restrictions, which are an important feature to industrial embedded systems, are also included.
