Abstract

A management model has been developed for selecting subsets of networked sensors through the time to maximize targets coverage, under energy, reliability or wearing constraints (health condition monitoring). Experimental results respectively from optimal and heuristic algorithms of sensors’ activation under coverage constraints are compared. The results show that smart control of the sensors’ switch can help reducing the wear and extending lifetime of the sensors, while maximizing the amount of collected data for health condition monitoring of large-scale systems.
