Abstract

- E-learning is an educational system of distance-learning through which the students have the possibility to continue their studies at a graduate or post-graduate level. In e-learning, the tutor is an expert-person looking for the development and the education of his/her students. In the e-learning literature, most of the time, different technical aspects are treated, while the psychological and pedagogical aspects have very little space. Therefore there is an open gap in this area. In this study we investigated the psycho-pedagogical aspects of the role of a tutor in e-learning. In this respect we made a survey that was sent to different universities. We completed this qualitative research with a quantitative research. The Universities, such as: AIIAS (Philippines), University of North Carolina (US), Oulu University (Finland), etc, were chosen to cover a broad geographical area. From the answers that we received, some interesting conclusions can be made that are presented in this paper.
