Abstract
This paper deals with adaptive control of the Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR) which is a typical member of nonlinear processes with lumped parameters. Since the controller is an adaptive one, parameters of the controller are estimated recursively during the control with different recursive least squares methods. A polynomial approach used for the controller synthesis has satisfied control requirements and moreover, it could be used for systems with negative properties such as nonlinearity, non-minimum phase etc. Delta models were used as a external linear model of the nonlinear process. There were used two control configurations with one and two degrees-of-freedom for controller design.
