Abstract

A simulator for the estimation of surface liberation of gold grains during size reduction of gold ore was developed as part of a global project for the simulation of the size reduction of gold bearing ores. The simulator accounts for gold grain size and shape, as well as preferential breakage of the ore. The estimated exposed surface of gold following breakage varies with the shape and size of the gold grains and particle. The predictions of the simulator can be used in leaching models allowing the simulation of the effect of different grinding scenarios on gold dissolution.
