Robust Multivariable Predictive Control Strategy on SAG Mills; Codelco Chile – Division El Teniente

In this paper, the experience and results of the implementation of an advanced control strategy for SAG mills 1 and 2 at Codelco Chile's, División El Teniente, is presented. In these applications, the multivariable predictive control approach was used, based on Honeywell's Profit Controller™ software, also called RMPCT (Robust Multivariable Predictive Control Technology). Results achieved are excellent, viewed in terms of operators’ acceptance, applications availability, bearing pressure stability and throughput increase.
