Abstract

Embedded Control Systems operate under highly changeable and uncertain environments with strong resource constraints. The design of ECS should be structured, with a kernel unit providing the most basic features. In this paper, the design of essential control activities under changes in the computing capability assigned to the control as well as changes in the measurements availability are discussed. In the first case, changes in the sampling period allow the use of the assigned computing time. In the second case, alternative multirate controllers provide the computing of the control action based on different measurement patterns. Some examples illustrate the results.
