Abstract
An actinomycetes strain VAS16 was isolated from the soil collected from the agricultural field of Vengodu. The strain was identified as Nonomuraea species based on morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics along with 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis. The active extract was purified over silica gel column chromatography. The structure of the active compound was elucidated using FT-IR, EI-MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra; it was identified as phthalic acid. Phthalic acid obtained from the strain Nonomuraea sp. VAS16 showed significant antibacterial activity against Yersinia enterocolitica and Vibrio parahaemolyticus, with a MIC value of 31.25 μg/mL. In silico docking analysis was carried out using GlcN-6-P synthesis as a target. It showed that the compound had minimum binding energy of −6.55 KJ/mol and had good affinity. This compound could be probed further for its usefulness as a drug molecule.
