Abstract

The present work deals with the problem of a group of intersections controlled by lights. The light timing is set by the managing traffic authority. However, frequently vehicles override the light. The first situation is presented as an optimization problem, the second as a game between flows at the intersection. Two types of games are considered to be played at the intersection zero-sum and prisoner's dilemma, both seem to model the possible outcome, when flows meet. Result for a simple intersection are presented. The main contribution of this work is a model that includes both situations.
