Abstract

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are often configured with a great number of nodes which raises problems of integrating new nodes and of secure operation with respect to node failures or network attacks. In building automation, a permanently installed ultrasonic locating system primarily delivers node locations for application tasks. Further, location information can additionally be used for facilitating network integration of nodes. Moreover, advanced security mechanisms can be based on a new secure ultrasonic locating scheme which is strictly related to room layouts. Set up on measured device locations, location based keys are a powerful improvement of WSN security. A concept of these security mechanisms for static and mobile nodes is presented in this paper.
