Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method to estimate angular position and speed of a brushless motor rotor by using a free derivative state observer. The proposed approach seems to be very promising from the viewpoint of the computational load, estimation accuracy and response time. Moreover, it comes out a novel procedure for the tuning of the endogenous parameters of the filter based on the using of stochastic search algorithms.
