Abstract
Applying the continuous-time one track model for lateral vehicle dynamics it is shown how the cornering stiffness of the front and rear tires can be estimated. To consider as much information as available, the standard nonrecursive as well as the recursive least squares estimation methods are based on two equations in parallel governing different dynamics. Its performance is shown by simulations.
