Abstract
► We model velocity evolution of outer tube during magnetic impulse welding using a coupling numerical model. ► The effect of voltage on velocity of outer tube was investigated. ► The effect of velocity on strength of welding joint was investigated. ► FE results were compared to experimental results and the errors of velocity were in a reasonable scope.
