Abstract
We use the weak Ekeland variational principle to obtain a new proof of an improved version of the Nadler fixed point theorem for set-valued mappings given by Dontchev and Hager (1994). Separately, we apply the fixed point theorem to obtain an unconventional existence result for differential inclusions.
