Abstract
Based on mathematical and statistical processing of research experimental data defining the basic size of the abrasive tools working surfaces relief, as well as three-dimensional characteristics of the pore space, we identified the analytical dependences of these parameters on the grit, graininess, and structure of the instruments subject to the ways of their modernization and methods of fitting. We introduced a new concept of edge height of the working surface relief at which the matrix of grinding wheel crock comes onto the work surface. This allows comparatively analyze the parameters of the working surface profilogram in the wheels with different characteristics. This approach gives an opportunity to determine the average distance between grains, the relative reference length of profile, the size of surface pores and unevenness of grains at any level of the surface profile. It also allows justifying the function of structural characteristics of grinding wheels for specific conditions of grinding or, if necessary, selecting identical parameters of working surface of wheels with other characteristics to ensure the necessary operational parameters: productivity, machined surface roughness of parts and processing accuracy.
