Abstract
We address the passivity of discontinuous systems. First, we launch an extension of the classical definition of passivity by utilizing the concept of Filippov's solution, where the possible supply energy is introduced. Then, some fundamental properties of the passive system are provided, which include the stabilization by output feedback. Moreover, an extension of the classical KYP Lemma is proposed. Interestingly, from a consideration of KYP Lemma it is noticed that an additional physical constraint is required to be passive for the discontinuous system.
