Abstract
The paper reports on initial development of a simple tool to be used by decision makers for preliminary assessment of benefits in automation and information technology projects. A mathematical model for making such assessment is presented, together with the description of a tool prototype. Initial results from using the tool indicate that it has a good potential in making such assessments more efficient, but still some improvements of the tool and the underlying concepts are needed.
